My Wi-Fi is malfunctioning!?

Everyone in my house hold has excellent wi-fi, except me. whenever i try to connect to the network it tells me that my computer did not receive any information back from the router. i think that my network reception settings might be off. i have a Toshiba computer with Vista installed if it helps. Thanks, any information at all will be appreciated!
