What difference is there between HDTVs and Standard definition TVs as far as gaming?

I play modern warfare 2 on xbox on a standard definition Toshiba cinema series tv and whenever I play xbox on someone else's HDTV the feel of it feels slower or less reactive. I play the highest controller sensitivity on my SDTV and set it to the same on the other TVs but it still feels different.
