Toshiba won't start windows?

I have a Windows 7 and I just got my laptop about a week ago...The problem is that it turns on and when it gets to the screen where it says Starting Windows, it freezes, I've waited for hours for it to start and nothing, never changes...I have also shut it off and tried to do a Startup Repair but It says that Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically, can you help??? Oh and if it helps this all started when I was updating the windows and It said NOT to turn off and My computer over heated.
