How can I connect my xbox 360 dvd drive to my laptop ?

I'm trying to flash my xbox 360's dvd drive for backup purposes, but i only have a toshiba satellite L305 laptop in my home and i don't know how to connect the drive to it. I have a esata to usb adapter ( One side male usb, other side male esata) will that work. Im using jungle flasher the latest on on a slime xbox 360 liteon drive.
